I can't imagine dressing either of my kids without the help of GapKids. Season after season, I know I can count on Gap to provide my entire family with just the right duds for any occasion. GapKids' classic, yet always on trend pieces fit seamlessly into my 4-year-old daughter's wardrobe, and their infant styles look nothing short of adorable on my 4-month-old son. I've particularly loved the store's recent partnerships with designers such as Stella McCartney and Diane von Furstenberg (indeed, my daughter acquired quite the impressive DVF collection through the latter partnership!), which demonstrate GapKids' commitment to innovative, fashion-forward thinking. So it seems a natural fit that Gap has partnered with craft blogger Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag to create a series of in-store art projects taking place in select GapKids stores throughout the country over the next three Saturdays.
The Shine On Saturday projects were inspired by the GapKids and babyGap fall collection, which include styles such as the new 1969 denim pieces Jewel Box Skinnies for girls (the new skinny jean updated in a bright, stretchy denim) and Action Stretch Denim for boys (otherwise known as denim that's made to move). From creating geometric masterpieces on canvas using paint and tape to colorful, custom journals to get kids ready for back-to-school, the Shine On Saturdays projects will keep your kids entertained and inspire them to express their creativity.
The first Shine On Saturdays event will take place this Saturday August 11th from 10am to 1pm at the GapKids located at 680 5th Avenue at 54th Street. Here's the full lineup of NYC events and locations:
Saturday August 11th: Make Geometric Art
10am-1pm
GapKids, 680 5th Ave. at 54th St.
Saturday August 18th: Create Your Own Journal
10am-1pm
GapKids, 1511 3rd Ave. at 85th St.
Saturday August 25th: Make an Animal Character Badge
10am-1pm
GapKids, 122 5th Ave. at 17th St.
