openhousenewyork Weekend is Here!
Get an inside look at some of New York's hidden treasures during this fantastic annual event!
Macaroni Kid readers, you are in for such a treat this weekend! One of my favorite New York City events, openhousenewyork, will be taking place this Saturday and Sunday. During openhousenewyork, America's largest architecture and design event, some of the coolest and most off-limits spaces in New York City throw open their doors for special talks, tours, performances and family-friendly workshops - all free of charge! This is really such a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of New York City, build models, explore hidden spaces, and discover the amazing world right outside your door!
It would be impossible to list all the openhousenewyork activities going on around town, but suffice it to say that there will be plenty of workshops especially for kids as well as tours and events taking place at family-friendly sites around the city, including the Center for Architecture, the Park Avenue Armory, the Japan Society, the Eldridge Street Synagogue, the Children's Museum of the Arts, the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, the Morgan Library & Museum, the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, and more. Some of the workshops and tours require advance registration, so be sure to check out the official website at www.ohny.org for detailed information. Happy exploring!
