Welcome to this week's edition of Macaroni Kid!  This past week has been a challenging one, to say the least.  Having lost both power and water to Sandy, my family is currently camped out in a midtown hotel room, which we were very fortunate to secure given the flurry of activity following the storm.  We've received word that our priceless mementos housed in a storage unit at the South Street Seaport likely have been destroyed, and we are uncertain as to when we'll be able to return home, but we are nevertheless incredibly grateful to be safe and together in this time of crisis.  I've spent a great deal of time this week thinking about the impact this storm has had on all of you, and I sincerely hope you and your families made it through the storm relatively unscathed. 

Understandably, many of the events previously planned for this weekend and the coming week have been canceled or postponed as a result of the storm.  I've attempted to note all cancellations of which I'm presently aware, but things have been so uncertain that it's best to call each venue prior to attending an event to confirm the activities will be taking place as scheduled.  This is particularly true of any venues located below 39th Street, where power and water remain elusive as of the time of this publication. 

Here's hoping we can all return to some degree of normalcy in the coming weeks.  You all will remain in my thoughts, and I wish you and your families the best during this difficult time.
