Although I've lived here for nearly ten years, I often feel like a tourist in New York City.  Which is a good thing, as there really is so much to explore here, and it's always exciting to discover the hidden gems that lurk around every corner of the city (it also helps that I've finally developed the "assertive New Yorker" walk and therefore no longer - ok, rarely - get shoved off the sidewalk as I'm out and about).  I particularly love sharing New York with my daughter Sadie, and I'm always on the lookout for books or other resources to help her better understand this awe-inspiring place we call home.  So you can imagine my delight when I discovered Look Out World, Here I Come!, the award-winning travel and adventure DVD/activity series for "little global citizens" that inspires kids to discover the great big world around them.  The first time we viewed the Look Out New York DVD we received for review, Sadie and I quickly fell in love with Otto, Blink and Casey, the three adorable characters who serve as your tour guides on an adventure that combines real sights and sounds with colorful animation to bring New York to life from a child's perspective.  As she sang along to the catchy soundtrack, Sadie delighted in watching Otto and his pals make friends with an elephant at the Bronx Zoo, find colors in Times Square, stomp like a dinosaur at the American Museum of Natural History, learn about the Statue of Liberty, hail a taxi, learn about New York City pizza and much more.  Sadie loved pointing out the places she'd already been to and clamored for me to take her to the places we hadn't yet explored.  The DVD comes with a companion activity book that provides even more NYC-themed learning and fun.  This set really would make such a great holiday gift for your favorite city kid!  For more information, or to purchase a Look Out World, Here I Come! DVD/activity set, visit www.lookoutworldhereicome.com.  And, as a special holiday treat, the good folks from Look Out World have provided me with a DVD/activity set and Otto plush toy to give away to one lucky Macaroni Kid subscriber!  To enter to win this great prize, simply leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing to do with your kids in NYC or a place you'd like to visit with your kids (this part is mandatory, and note that if you'd prefer to email your comment to me, you can do so by sending it to monicas [at] macaronikid [dot] com with the subject line "Look Out World.").  Want an extra entry?  "Like" Macaroni Kid Manhattan East Side on Facebook by clicking here, and then leave a comment below telling me you've done so.  You can only enter once using each available method (i.e., leave one comment about what you like to do with your kids in NYC or where you'd like to visit with them  and another about becoming a fan on Facebook) and you must be a Macaroni Kid subscriber to be eligible to win.  Not a subscriber?  Click here to sign up!  I'll use Random.org to draw one lucky winner from all eligible entries received by 11:59pm on Thursday December 30th.  Good luck!
