Indeed, family travel just got a whole lot more exciting with this $2 million, 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art addition the already fabulous Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun, a sprawling all-suite oceanfront resort located just steps away from Cancun's vibrant shopping, nightlife and entertainment. Designed by the award-winning team at Launch by Design, the new high-tech Coral Kidz Club will engage the resort's "Generation Z" guests with more than 40 indoor and outdoor activities geared to kids ages 3 to 12.
From the moment they enter the Coral Kidz Club, children will be greeted by bright colors and fun patterns that are splashed on the walls along with international greetings. Indeed, the club's interior spaces not only incorporate the latest technology but also feature bespoke, hand-painted artwork that reflects the strong history and culture of the resort's Mexican setting. After checking in, kids store their belongings in a cubby and set off to find their very own age-appropriate zone.
Tweens and teens will pass through an illuminated arched portal as they are transported first to the club's computer zone and then to the futuristic gaming area, where they can enjoy the latest interactive video games and engage with an interactive 30 square foot LED wall that houses an electronic game that teaches kids about the ancient Mayan culture through learning, interactive play, and fun facts. Children earn rewards from playing these games and can claim their prizes throughout the hotel.
I particularly appreciate the fact that the Coral Kidz Club makes a point to cater to kids of all ages, including the toddler set. Indeed, kids ages 3-5 will find an area devoted especially to their imagination and learning where they can choose their own path - city, park, or jungle. The cityscape features Mexican-style homes, a fire station, an "I-spy" wall made up of Latin American iconography, and a construction zone, while the jungle room consists of a quiet zone deep in the forest where kids can curl up in a nook with a book.
My kids will definitely be logging some serious time in the Coral Kidz Club's Open Play Theater, which features a stage with a digital backdrop, theatrical curtains, a light-up dance floor, and a backstage dressing room complete with costumes, make-up and dressing mirrors. They'll also love the arts & crafts area, which can't help but spark their creativity with its stunning views of the ocean through three large porthole windows.
The Coral Kidz Club extends its fun and sense of discovery to the outside, with the addition of the innovative "NEOS" system, the world's first electronic play system for the playground, which combines both the speed and fun of video games with the lively movement of aerobic exercise. In the Open Play area, kids will also find a basketball hoop and custom race car track for racing their very own remote-controlled cars, while traditional Mexican sidewalk games can be found throughout the outdoor play area.
All told, the Coral Kidz Club promises to be an experience unlike any other. I particularly love the fact that the club embraces and acknowledges kids' affinity for technology while simultaneously encouraging and enabling social collaboration and engagement in an environment that incorporates the rich traditions of the Mexican culture. My family plans to visit the Grand Fiesta American Coral Beach Cancun later this year, and we are beyond excited to experience everything the resort has to offer - including the Coral Kidz Club!
