Guide to NYC Providers Offering Online/Virtual Classes and Services

March 21, 2020

There's no denying that all of our lives have been upended by the Coronavirus pandemic, and by all accounts we're going to be in a state of uncertainty for the foreseeable future. Many schools and offices remain closed, social distancing and masking is in full effect, birthday parties and other celebrations have been canceled, and families everywhere are now stuck at home and away from their favorite play spaces, museums, class providers, and other local haunts. At the same time, local businesses are struggling with how to adapt to these new circumstances as they face a sudden loss of revenue and uncertainty as to what the future holds. In typical New Yorker fashion, however, many local class and service providers have quickly pivoted to an online and virtual platform, whereby they can continue to enrich, engage, educate, and help families through this unprecedented time. To that end, I wanted to share with you a variety of class and service providers who are now offering online and virtual classes and services to NYC families. In the listings below, you'll find online possibilities for voice coaching, piano lessons, tutoring, acting classes, art classes, speech therapy, home organizing, and more. Please support these fabulous local providers, who are eager to share their wealth of knowledge and talent with you and your family. I'll be updating the guide on a continuous basis in the days and weeks to come, so if you know of anyone who would like to be included, please do send them my way.

Suzanne Dressler formed Skyscraper Tutoring after 12 years of tutoring students from the top private and public schools in NYC. She noticed that while there are a number of educational services in this city, many do not focus on the child and teenager as a human being. Suzanne and her highly experienced and compassionate tutors believe in displaying empathy, support, and transparency with their students. Tutoring should always be a means of helping students become more autonomous as young people, confident in their intellectual abilities, and ultimately, teaching them to be self-learners.
