TOP 10 for the Week

Friday, March 25th

1. Stories and Music: Animal Party with Flor Bromley at Yorkville Library - Join us for a fun music and stories program that will take us to meet different animals and their environments. Please note: Per NYPL policy, a face covering is required for all adults and children 2 years and older. We always recommend confirming details before attending. Ages 3-12. 3:30pm


Saturday, March 26th

2. Mornings at the Nassau County Museum of Art for ages 13-25 with Autism: Mornings at NCMA, an access program for teens and young adults on the autism spectrum (Autism Spectrum Disorder) ages 13 – 25, to be accompanied by a parent or care partner. Led by an art therapist, each session will take its’ inspiration from the art on view in the galleries.  This is a private guided experience that takes place in the Museum before it opens to the general public. Each participant is limited to one parent or care partner and everyone is expected to wear masks or face coverings. Sensory kits will be handed out for personal use. $10 Members & Children | $20 Non-member adults. 9:45 am - 11:00 am

3. Family Storytime: Stories, Songs and Rhymes for Little Ones: Join us for songs, rhymes, and favorite read-aloud books in this storytime that’s fun for the whole family. For young children of all ages. Ideal for caregivers with multiple-aged children. 11:00 am - 11:30 am

4. Date Night at the Met -  It’s Date Night at The Met! Bring a friend or special someone (or yourself!) for an evening of art, live music, and more in the hundreds of galleries and soaring spaces of the Museum.Experience live music across the Museum from performers such as celebrated contemporary string quartet ETHEL; NYC’s leading medieval, Renaissance, and baroque ensemble Sonnambula; and Mike Hashim’s New Orleans Foot Warmers, playing Jazz Age classics. Drop by an informal Gallery Chat with a Museum guide and “get to know” a work of art, just like a first date. Enjoy buy-one-get-one drink specials and an assortment of light fare in the American Wing Café (last call at 8:15 pm) and a small bites menu in the Balcony Lounge (for Members at the Evening Hours level and above; call 212-570-3975 for reservations). All events are free with Museum admission, which is always pay-what-you-wish for New York State residents and NY, NJ, and CT students with valid ID. Met Members can use their card as their ticket and enter at 81st Street and Fifth Avenue. 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm


Sunday, March 27th

5. All of a Kind Family Walking Tour with the Museum at Eldridge Street -Take the kids on a trip to the literary Lower East Side! Join us on this walking tour and follow in the footsteps of Ella, Henny, Sarah, Charlotte, and Gertie, the beloved sisters depicted in Sydney Taylor’s children’s classic All-of-a-Kind Family. Stroll through the story and into the streets to learn about the real-life people and Lower East Side places that inspired Taylor to write All-of-a-Kind Family. These behind-the-scenes details are guaranteed to make you love the book even more! Recommended for children five and up and their adult companions. $10.00 - $15.00 + processing fee.1:00 pm

6. NYC Master Chorale Presents: What Sweeter Music: Join the New York City Master Chorale for our first live performance in over two years - our upcoming FAMILY FRIENDLY concert - What Sweeter Music -  at 4 p.m. at Saint Ignatius of Antioch. This is a family-friendly concert and tickets are FREE for all kids under 18. 


Tuesday, March 29th

7. VIRTUAL: Positively K-Pop: Power to the Woman for ages 13+ with NYCL Libraries - K-Pop isn't just sweet beats, swooning voices, and sick dance moves.  K-Pop is a phenomenon that has brought millions of fans together from across the globe. Join Wakefield's Young Adult Staff as we discuss and dissect songs and performances from our favorite female artists and groups! Attendees will also get book recommendations and learn about new initiatives NYPL offers. This is a program for ages 13 and up, especially those who love and see the value in K-Pop music.  Cool Vibes Only.


Wednesday, March 30th

8. Drag Story Hour for Ages 3-7 at the 67th Street Library: Drag Story Hour NYC captures the imagination and play of gender fluidity in childhood and gives kids glamorous and unapologetically LGBTQ role models. Storytellers will read inclusive books as well as storytime favorites and lead participants in a simple craft. Sponsored by the Office of former City Council Member Ben Kallos. For ages 3-7. 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm. Please Note: Strollers are not permitted on the wheelchair lift, and may not be left in the library entrance vestibule. 

9. Teen Tech and Gaming Zone at Yorkville Library: Come hang out, explore, learn, use technology, make music, computers, use Nintendo Switch and more! We will be exploring the intersection of fun and learning, while looking into the various technologies that surround us daily. All of this takes place at Teen Headquarters here at Yorkville Public Library. Ages 9 - 18 are welcome to take part in this program! FREE. 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.


Thursday, March 31st

10. Stem Explorers for Ages 4-8 at 67th Street Library: Join us for an afternoon of STEM exploration. We will discuss science, technology, engineering, and math concepts, then conduct experiments or projects relating to the week's topic. Come prepared to assist your child with each activity. For children 4-8 years with their caregiver. Please call 212.734.1717 to register. 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. FREE.
