Description
We're celebrating Halloween with a fun new workshop where we'll teach you to make authentic caramel apples including all the toppings. We'll learn a little about apple varieties and how this treat became a Halloween tradition. Then we'll make and easy caramel sauce (with enough leftover for ice cream!) and utilize some creative decorating techniques.
Ingredients you’ll need:
• 8 medium apples (any variety will work, but Red Delicious tend to have tougher skins, so avoid if possible)
• 22-24 ounces soft caramels (sold in 11-ounce, 14-ounce and 1-pound bags in the baking and candy sections of many markets)
• 3 tablespoons whole milk
• 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate bar
• Optional toppings: toasted, shredded coconut, toasted and crushed nuts, crushed pretzels, M&Ms, crushed Oreo cookies, mini white chocolate chips, sprinkles, dried chopped fruit. Be creative and design your own combo!
Special equipment you’ll need:
• 8 popsicle sticks
• Baking sheet
• Parchment or wax paper
• Heat-proof bowl
• Optional: cellophane bags and ribbons, if giving as gifts
