Friday, January 14th
1. Virtual: Hot Peas 'N Butter Online Premiere with the Jewish Museum - Shake and sizzle to the multicultural rhythms of Hot Peas 'N Butter. Hear a mix of contagious beats, from vibrant Puerto Rican folk music to soulful American blues, and in honor of Tu B'Shevat (birthday of the trees) dance to tunes from award-winning albums including Back to The Land, which celebrates our connection to the earth. Ages 3-8. FREE with RSVP; donations gratefully accepted.
2. Virtual: Steam Snacks and Stories - Join staff from 58th Street Library via Google Meet as we learn a recipe, hear a story, and make a craft together. For children ages 7-10 who love to create and innovate whether that's in the kitchen or at the crafting table. This event involves making a snack and craft at home! A list of ingredients and tools needed will be provided beforehand. Ages 7-10 with and adult.
Saturday, January 15th
3. Virtual: The Schomburg Center's 10th Annual Black Comic Book Festival - The Black Comic Book Festival celebrates the rich tradition of Black comics featuring panel discussions, a cosplay show, and more over three days. The 2022 Black Comic Book Festival marks a decade of bringing together animators, Blerds, bloggers, cosplay lovers, fans, families, illustrators, independent publishers, and writers to celebrate Black comic books and graphic novels and provides a platform to get the works directly to readers. 10am-8pm
4. Virtual: Saturday Stories with the Society of Illustrators- Join acclaimed cartoonist Maria Scrivan for an exciting comics and cartooning Virtual Saturday Stories workshop! Maria will share her behind the scenes look at her latest graphic novel, Absolutely Nat. Maria takes her experience from being a syndicated cartoonist, magazine cartoonist, greeting card artist and graphic novelist to show participants how to make their own cartoons! Participants will learn how to draw cartoons from concept to final cartoon and explore panel comics, three panel cartoons, character design, speech bubbles, cartoonist shortcuts, sound effects, expressions and more! 10:30am
5. Virtual: Sabado Familiar with El Museo del Barrio: Our new virtual series, Sábado Familiar, welcomes families to join us for storytelling, and movement workshops, inspired by our signature family day Super Sábado.

6. Virtual: Making Golden Play Dough from Neue Gallerie: With a simple recipe, make dazzling gold play dough at home! Gustav Klimt used gold leaf and paint to create one of the most extraordinary pictures ever made, the 1907 “golden style” portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I. Annual Winter Art Show and Sale at the Ukrainian Institute of America -Art at the Institute extends a warm invitation to the general public for the return of its Annual Winter Art Show and Sale at the Ukrainian Institute of America. This traditional annual event provides a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and is a grand place to find unique artworks for the special people in your life, or for treating yourself. Available for purchase will be paintings small and large, ranging from realism to abstraction, using a variety of media.

8. Day of Service and Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King: Serving on MLK Day can be an entry point for ongoing volunteer effort and help build connections that strengthen communities. Through service we can build more equitable and just communities to underpin racial equity, expand civic opportunities, and foster respect for individual differences — all great lessons for our children. 9. Virtual: Clone of Kids STEAM- Ice Fishing with the NYPL: Join us as we go fishing! We are fishing indoors and not for fish. We will be doing an icy experiment you won't want to miss. Participation is limited to 15 participants. Registration is required. If you would like to join in you will need the following materials: String, Salt, Bowl, Water, Ice. Children ages 6+ with their caregivers.

10. Virtual: Reading the Arabian Nights with the NYPL - Writers, translators, and artists celebrate the most famous story collection of all time. A cornerstone of world literature and a monument to the power of storytelling, The Arabian Nights has inspired countless authors, from Charles Dickens and Edgar Allen Poe to Naguib Mahfouz, Clarice Lispector, and Angela Carter. In their extensive new collection, The Annotated Arabian Nights, literary historian Paulo Lemos Horta and poet and translator Yasmine Seale present a fresh selection of tales from the Nights.
