Museum of Ice Cream

MOIC in NYC

By Adina Kayton December 12, 2022

Wondering if you should take the kids to the Ice Cream Museum? I am here to give you the inside scoop on what it's all about.

The Museum of Ice Cream transforms into Pinkmas this time of the year, a special winter theme during the holidays where their ice cream turns pink and the hallways are lined with pink christmas trees along with other seasonal decorations.

Every room is full of wonder and excitement for kids of all ages, we went with our 5 year old and one and a half year old and they were both equally excited about every room just in different ways. For example our one and a half year old loved the hanging banana room and kept running back to it while our 5 year old loved the bouncy room and spend a good 20 minutes only in there. The parents favorite room was the ice cream sprinkle pool because the kids got in and played for close to 40 minutes before we had to bribe them to come out, it was that good.

Overall we spent close to two hours in there, it was a blast and the kids want go to back!

  • There is a playroom with a ping pong table, swings, bowl of ball pits made to look like sprinkles, mini basketball game, climbing structures and more
  • Three rooms where ice cream is served
  • The sprinkle pool is the last room
  • Elevators are there if you need them
  • Stroller friendly but no stroller parking, so you have to take it with you through the whole experience
  • Self guided tour, only move forwards not backwards
  • Eat as much Ice Cream as you want!
  • The slide is pretty fast, but awesome

Inside Tip: My son's last time visiting the ice cream museum was in 2021 and it was February (around Valentine's day), DO NOT go at this time. It is jam packed with ADULTS on dates, we waited in huge lines to get ice cream in every room and just to get on swings and play, we spent most of our time in the hallways just waiting in lines, it was rough, and a tad innapropriate for kids to even be there as there were lots of young love birds smooching around us. Definitely don't go around Valentine's day. After that visit it took a lot of convincing for me to bring him back this time, now he is saying he loves it and wants to go back more, success! I'm just glad he isnt' scarred from his last visit.

Covid Update: masks and vaccine requirements have settled down and they are no longer requesting proof or masks during your visit.

Go get your Ice Cream!!!!
