Mother's Day Signature Dinner Cruise

Here is our experience:

We boarded with City Cruises Signature Dinner Cruise and had the most wonderful experience. I cannot believe we have been living in NYC for 8 years and this was our first time doing this. We are absolutely going to make this a yearly experience!

For the mother's day cruise you will board at 5:30pm and sail off at 6:00pm, this will give you just enough time to explore the ship before it departs. We played Jenga, chess, checkers, a huge Connect Four game and danced on the very inviting dance floor. The ship will return at 8:30pm.

One of the highlights of our night was our table seating. First of all, we were warmly welcomed aboard and guided to our table that was reserved for us. There is nothing better than knowing you don't have to fight for a seat or be squeezed in by other busy tables while you are trying to keep two young children close to you.

Secondly, we had a table by the window which gave us the most amazing views of NYC, Little Island, the Vessel and the Statue of Liberty! The inside of the ship is very large and spacious, every table had excellent views of the city.

There were three different levels on the ship and four large outdoor seating areas complete with outdoor furniture and a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere. I definitely thought our kids would spend the majority of their time outdoors because of the warm weather we were lucky to have. Instead they spend 30% of their time on the dance floor, 30% playing board games like the giant Connect Four game and 40% of the time eating at the table, yes, eating! We have slight picky eaters and we packed lots of bells and whistles in our backpacks in case they needed additional distractions/food. I am happy to report that we used none of our tricks on this experience.

The staff brought our kids little goodie bags full of coloring crayons, coloring books, little squishies and other fun things to keep them busy. Airplanes companies should be doing this!

Next up was the food, it's worthy of a whole separate article but I'll keep it short here. I'll start off by saying my kids ate most of what was offered at the buffet, and so did my husband and I. By the end of the meal, my son asked me to go back and talk to the chef to retrieve his steak recipe. Stay tuned for the recipe, it's coming soon! Meanwhile, check out their dinner menu below.

Some of the highlights from the menu were the Tri Tip Steak, the Birria Style Chicken and the scalloped potatoes. Delish! I will say the warm white bread was so good my kids asked for seconds and thirds, by the time I went back for thirds the bread was gone! It was replaced by whole wheat bread which was equally delicious.

Now that we have the food covered let me tell you about the atmosphere. It was the perfect blend of soft music mixed with dance music, we got up several times to dance and there was never a bad song playing. We sailed at night so we could see the city lights shining through the large windows on the ship and the warm glow of the dance floor lights really set the mood for a celebration along with a great dance party. There were large groups celebrating birthdays and even a wedding party on board. I would definitely recommend a special birthday celebration/ engagement here.

Our server was fantastic, she checked on us regularly, brought us water, the kids juices (note they don't have apple juice so if your kids are only apple juice fans pack some with you). They had cranberry juice, pineapple juice and orange juice for the kids. My husband and I ordered their specialty cocktails and they arrived in a timely manner and were refreshing, not overly sweet and great quality. We even got to take home the giant cup that came in.

This was one of the best experiences we have had in NYC and we will absolutely be doing it again. City Experiences is the way to go!
