Books of Wonder is excited to host BOOKS AND BALLET. Please join us on Sunday, July 21st to celebrate two amazing picture books about the exciting world of dance.

Help us welcome author/ illustrator MONICA WELLINGTON for Dear Ballerina and author MICHELLE MEADOWS for Brave Ballerina. These two amazing authors will be joined by MELANIE PERSON, the co-director of The Ailey School and LYDIA WELLINGTON a dancer with the New York City Ballet.

Ms. Wellington will read Dear Ballerina, a delightful, diverse picture book, about young ballerinas experiencing the basics of ballet. Her daughter, Lydia Wellington, who has had corps and featured roles with the New York City Ballet, will be on hand to demonstrated some of the basics from the book.

Ms. Meadows will talk about her lyrical picture biography of Janet Collins, Brave Ballerina. Janet Collins is the real-life Brave Ballerina, who was the first African American principal dancer at the Metropolitan Opera House. Melanie Pearson, the Co-Director of The Ailey School, will be present information about Alvin Ailey dance and Community Programming.

Join us on Sunday July 21st from 3-5pm to celebrate these two diverse picture books about the life of a ballerina and see a live demonstration of the basics featured in the books. The authors will discuss their books, answer questions from the audience, and sign copies of all their fantastic books. Ages 4 to 8.
