Description
Visit the Seaport Museum for free campus-wide family fun in partnership with PJ Library! One day a month, April through June General Admission ticketing fees will be waived for a full day of all-ages activities at the Museum.
These events are free, and advance registration is encouraged.
Inspired by the PJ Library book––Gina from Siberia, which is written by Jane Bernstein and Charlotte Glynn and Illustrated by Anna Denitskaya-Donato––the May installment of this free series will highlight different forms of migration. Throughout the day, families are invited to tour the iconic 1908 lightship Ambrose, which served for a quarter century as the beacon of hope for immigrants reaching New York. Long before sighting the Statue of Liberty, inbound ships would carry those “yearning to breathe free” past Ambrose on their way to new lives in America.
The day of activities also offers you the opportunity to stop in for maritime-themed crafts inspired by signal flags and a station where you can create bridges, tunnels, waterways, and ramps. Come aboard the 1885 tall ship Wavertree to discover sailors’ living quarters and you’ll even have the chance to raise the sail! At Pier 16 you can enjoy an interactive storytime and, when you’re looking for a quiet moment between activities, relax at PJ Library’s cozy Book Nook, with stories for kids from newborn to 12 years old.
