Top 10 Things to do in NYC This Weekend!

A Food Festival, A Dance Parade, Big Trucks on Randall's Island and more!

Good Morning!!

Did you know there are only 40 days left until the end of this public school year? Where did the time go! And only 11 days until Memorial Day aka "Turn On The Sprinklers" day!!! That's our official kickoff for summer basically. 

Meanwhile as we get ready to wrap up the fantastic 2023 school year, here are some awesome events for this weekend that you don't want to miss:

1. StoryTime @ MCNY: City Sights, Smells, and Sounds

Every Friday for FREE New York City-inspired, picture-book readings for families and caretakers with children from ages 18 months to 5 years. Will include interactive, group activities and snacks! This month’s theme is City Sights, Smells, and Sounds.

FREE Friday from 10:00-11:00am

2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Haven't gone yet? They just extended their stay and the show is super sweet and worth it for 1-5 year olds' (and their caregivers!).

Runs Daily Cost: $48-$110 (lap seat available)

3. Ninth Avenue International Food Festival

The name says it all! Go, have fun! 

Saturday and Sunday | May 20 & 21, 2023
10am-6pm | 9th Avenue (42nd-57th Streets)

4. Bklyn Kids Block Party | Albee Square & City Point

Brooklyn Bridge Parents will bring the party to Downtown Brooklyn at both City Point (indoors) and Albee Square (outdoors) with free, fun activities for families with kids ages 1 to 12! Epic ball pit, Lego building, arts & crafts, live music, soccer games, family Zumba class and more at City Point at 445 Albee Square West and Albee Square outside.

5. PS 6 Spring Fair

The years before they had bouncy houses and lots of entertainment! I think this year will be excellent as well! PS6 Yard on Saturday, May 20, from 11 am to 5 pm! FREE

6.Dance Parade + Dance Fest

Dance Parade returns to the streets Saturday May 20, 2023 and will celebrate the 17th Annual Parade and Festival with 10,000 dancers featuring over 100 unique styles of dance. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony kicks off the event at 11:45am at 17th Street and Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas)

7. Big Truck Day

Learn how firefighters, garbage truck drivers, and other big truck operators use these vehicles to drive our city forward. Location: Asphalt Pad Randall's Island

May 20th from 12:00-3:00pm

8. World Bee Day At Governor's Island

 FREE fam­i­ly-friend­ly day that cel­e­brates the 20,000+ bee species that pol­li­nate 80% of the world’s flow­er­ing plants! Lots of giveaways from Zarbee's and fun hands on activities for the kids!

May 20th from 12:00-4:00pm

9. Stone Soup and Other Stories

Dynamic, participatory and filled with zesty entertainment, “Stone Soup…” is on the gourmet “not to be missed” list for young viewers!

May 20th from 2:00-4:00pm

10. Seaport Museum Open Day with PJ Library

Visit the Seaport Museum for free campus-wide family fun in partnership with PJ Library! One day a month, April through June General Admission ticketing fees will be waived for a full day of all-ages activities at the Museum.

Sunday May 21st from 11:00-5:00pm

BONUS ROUND: 

Greek Jewish Festival

Join the Greek Jewish Festival as we celebrate the unique Romaniote and Sephardic heritage of the Jews of Greece. Experience a feast for the senses including authentic kosher Greek foods and homemade Greek pastries, traditional Greek dancing and live Greek and Sephardic music, an outdoor marketplace full of vendors, arts and educational activities for kids, and much more!

Little Island's Second Birthday Party!

Who doesn't love a birthday party?? This one is for Little Island! 

Join them for an afternoon of birthday themed activities on Sunday, May 21 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
